Congratulations Alyson – New County Vets Captain

It gives me great pleasure to become County Vets Captain for the following season especially being able to welcome players to Furness, the 3rd oldest links, 6th oldest course in England and in 2022, celebrating its 150th Anniversary.

I began playing golf at Furness Golf Club as a junior when my mum, dad and sister all joined on a family membership.

I have had various roles in the golfing scene, Lady Captain and Club President of Furness, County Ladies Captain, County Junior Organiser and was a member of the Ladies County Team on numerous occasions.

Since turning 50 I have represented the Vets team in the Richardson Trophy matches and I was lucky enough to be selected to represent the Northern team in the Jamboree.

Working with my Vice Captain, sister Janette, past Captain Margaret, President Helena, all the committee and not forgetting the talented squad will hopefully help to make my year as Captain a memorable experience.

I feel honoured to be Captain in the year Penrith are holding the Northern Championships in May 2022.  The County Veteran Association would love to see as many of you lady golfers supporting this event.

I hope I fulfil my role to the best of my ability and we as a team have success in our Richardson Trophy matches.

I would like to wish you all a safe and happy golfing year. Alyson
